Okay style-watchers. Two trends that continue into Summer this year are bleached denim and ombre shorts.
I happen to like a little DIY and so this trend is right up my alley… or… right down the street at my nearest department store. Seriously, if you don’t have time to do it yourself, you can find these looks just about anywhere right now. So, this morning, I grabbed my Miss Me jeans that I wore out last year (I was knee-less people) and hacked them into shorts. Yup… just cut them right where I thought made sense. Looking back, this was a bad idea. For all of you learning from my advice. Put them on… make a mark and cut just below it. You want to leave room for fraying and fixing your first cut – because lets just be honest… you’re going to cut them wrong the first time. I know I did.

Alright… So I cut them… I poured bleach into a bowl in my utility sink. I dipped the bottom half into the bleach and then wet them all over with my spray nozzle on my sink. I wanted the bleach to wick up the shorts and create a gradient (ombre) effect and not just a solid line. I think had I wanted the solid line instead of the ombre effect, I would have let them sit in the bleach for an extended period of time and would not have wet them. Then… I hung dried them over my utility sink. Remember, they are going to be dripping bleach! I repeated the process again after about an hour. This time, dipping only the veeeery bottom in bleach. There is no science to this people. I mean… look at the shorts from my first two photos – and you are paying for that! So, try it out… maybe with an old pair first… and let me know what you think! Happy DIY people! With love,
