“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Hebrews 1:3
The power is flickering on and off here in NW Oklahoma. A fairly impressive ice storm has moved through this part of the country, and many are already without power on this cold cold night.
I’ve got a little girl sleeping on my couch with a bucket next to her, and I’m awake watching the lights flash on and off just praying for the power to sustain.
I need the power to sustain here in our electricity to keep us warm. But even more than that, I need the power of the Holy Spirit to sustain me through these long days and nights. I need the power to sustain the days ahead.
And as I meditate on this, the Lord whispers a few lines of Truth from His Word straight to my heart. “The Son sustains all things by His powerful Word,” and I remember that it’s all in His hands.
The lights. Our health. Each moment…Held carefully in the hands of Jesus who promises to sustain all things because His Word never changes. His Word is eternal. His Word is final. His Word lasts forever.
I’m praying for you on this night. I praying that the Lord would sustain your heart. I’m praying that He would meet your every need. And I’m asking Him to give you the grace to trust Him as He does. In Jesus’s name.
