It has been two weeks since my last post. Yes. I know that you are capable of looking at a calendar and seeing how long it has been. I am pointing out the obvious. I just thought I would catch you up on the last few weeks of life on this end of the computer. I have been reading the book “The Pursuit of God” by A.W. Tozer and fell so much in love with what God was teaching my heart that I bought twenty copies, and put out a Facebook post that my husband and I would be starting a home group Bible study the next Monday. Sometimes, things work out even if they don’t work out like we plan.
The books came (all 20 of them). Friends came (lots of them). A kid-sitter came to watch all the babies who were brought by their parents (lots of those too). My house was/is spotless… and then I passed out the books. Let us just say, it is one that you need to chew on, and after Tozer says it, there isn’t much else that needs to be said about it. I felt like I had handed everyone a really tough steak and said, “Eat this for awhile and then we will get back together and talk about how tasty it was.” Only so much that can be said…. It just didn’t feel right.
So, I begged everyone to come back the following Monday (last night) and they did… Some new people joined us and brought friends too! I was so blessed that it wasn’t just me and my book sitting in my clean living room eating the cookies that I bought for everyone to enjoy.
I have also been reading another book recently and really feel like it is the approach to deeper relationship with Jesus that I our group needs to take. “Jesus Is ______” by Judah Smith is what we will be reading and is such a conversational book and a unique perspective on the person of Jesus.
We will be going chapter by chapter and if you would like to read the book along with us, I encourage you to do so! So, I guess I haven’t been terribly busy, I have just been focused on getting this home group going. When God says “run” you run until He tells you to stop! Usually, that doesn’t mean stop and blog about it. But, I will do my best to keep you all posted to what God is doing next in our wonderful little fellowship. Until then,
